Step one: watch this short intro
You found a Yellow Camera.
Take it. Film your world. Pass it on.
This camera travels from stranger to stranger around the world. Each person films a small slice of their real life,
uploads it here, then passes the camera on.
Tap “Click to get started” to hear how this works, then upload your clip and pass the camera on.
How it works
Film with the camera
Press the top button once to start recording, and again to stop. Show us something that feels real to you right now — a view you love, a weird little moment, something joyful or heavy, or the kind of scene you’d tell a friend about later. Please don’t do anything dangerous, illegal, or that could hurt you or someone else.
Plug it in & copy your clip
Use the Yellow Camera’s built-in cable or port to connect it to your phone or laptop. Your device should see it like a USB drive. Open it, find the video you just recorded, and copy it to your device.
Upload here, then pass it on
Upload your clip using the form below. If you can, give the camera a quick charge, then hand it to a stranger and tell them to scan the QR on the back to join the world’s story.
Watch the step-by-step
Prefer to see it instead of reading? This short video walks you through recording, copying, uploading, and resetting the camera for the next stranger.
Upload your footage
This page is only for footage recorded on a physical Yellow Camera. Please upload the original file directly from the camera (without renaming or editing it first). You won’t see other people’s footage here—finished episodes will be published on YouTube at @yellowcameraproject.
What happens to your clip?
We review every submission by hand. Some clips will be used in episodes on YouTube and social media, some may appear later in longer documentaries or art projects, and some may stay in the private archive.
By uploading, you’re telling us you’re okay with your footage being used in those ways. If you want to stay anonymous, don’t say your full name on camera and just give us a nickname in the form.
Every clip is one tiny piece of the world’s story, told by the people who happen to catch this camera.
Bonus: reset the camera for the next stranger
Once your upload is finished, you can help the next person by clearing the SD card and giving the battery a little charge.
- Make sure your clips are fully uploaded here.
- If you see other people’s videos still on the camera from before you, please upload those too if you can — they might not have had good internet.
- On the camera, open the settings menu and choose Delete > All files on SD.
- If possible, plug the camera in for a while so it’s ready for the next storyteller.
Then pass the camera to someone you don’t know and tell them to scan the QR on the back to join the project.
Can I upload a video I shot on my phone?
Not on this page. This upload form is only for footage recorded on a physical Yellow Camera. If you found one, please use the cable on the camera to copy the original files and upload them here.
If you haven’t found a Yellow Camera yet but want to follow the journeys, you can watch episodes on YouTube and social media at @yellowcameraproject.
Camera damaged or not working?
If the Yellow Camera you found is badly damaged, cracked, or won’t power on, please don’t throw it away. You can help keep the project alive.
- Take a photo of the camera, including the camera ID if you can.
- Email us at theyellowcameraproject@gmail.com with the subject line "Damaged Yellow Camera".
- We’ll reply with mailing instructions so the camera can be repaired or recycled and sent back into the world.
Thank you for helping keep the Yellow Camera story going.
